Thai Prik Nam Bplaa

Prik Nam Bplaa - literally means "spicy water fish" - and yes it smells quite revolting... until you discover the amazing effect it has on your thai food. No salt is used in Thai cooking - use plain Fish Sauce instead. When serving a meal, prepare the following to serve.. |
Servings: 4
ingredients
3 chillies sliced
3 cloves of garlic sliced thinly
1 shallot sliced into thin rings
1/2 lime sliced into slivers and quatered.
4 tablespoons of Fish sauce
2 tablespoons of water
1/2 teaspoon of honey or sugar
directions
Divide all the ingredients equally into two small sauce bowls,add the Fish sauce, water and honey or sugar and stir to mix.
Invite your guests to drizzle 1ts over their rice to flavor it before they start with any of the other dishes.
chef's notes
The fish sauce mix can last a week or more, just cover it up with plastic or seal with a lid.

There are two essential side dishes that will make your Thai food extrodinary
1. A plate of fresh vegetables like cucumber, leafy vegetables, tomatoes, green beans etc, roughly chopped or whole so it can be taken with the hand - compliments the passionate flavours of the Thai food.
2. Prik Nam Bplaa - 3 chillies sliced into rings, 3 cloves of garlic sliced thinly, 1 shallot sliced into thin rings, 1/2 lime sliced into slivers and quatered.
